James P. Ewers - President and CEO
Jim Ewers has a long and successful history in the logistics industry. In Seattle, Washington, from 1988 to 1992, much of his time was spent in international trade developing strategic alliances with steamship lines, freight forwarders, U.S. Customs, rail carriers, and domestic common carriers to provide efficient distribution alternatives for international and domestic companies as the Sales Manager and Operations Manager for Trammell Crow Distribution Corporation (TCDC). TCDC, headquartered in Dallas, Texas, was an asset based Third Party Logistics Company, providing distribution center services, inventory control, supply chain management and transportation services to manufactures, wholesalers, and distributors.
After rapid and sustained growth in the Puget Sound Region, TCDC promoted Mr. Ewers to Marketing & Sales Manager, West Coast in Los Angeles, California where he expanded the company’s international trading partners along with domestic distribution sales and marketing within the Western United States. In 1992, Exel Logistics, a British owned freight consortium and large European third party logistics company, acquired TCDC and soon assigned Jim to the position of Regional Transportation Manager to strategically manage and grow the transportation fleet and freight management services for the Southern California business groups. This transportation unit serviced 1.4 million square feet of distribution center space from three Southern California cities, with distribution activity world wide and was soon recognized as one of the fastest growing business units in all Exel Logistics’ North American operations.
In 1995, since joining IEDS, Jim utilized his logistics experience in helping IEDS grow to become the Pacific Inland Northwest’s premier logistics provider serving domestic and international firms. After IEDS surpassed 125% growth from 1996 to 2001, the Board of Directors assigned Jim to President & Chief Executive Officer. Since this time, IEDS has expanded its roll in the region, acquired several companies and continues to lead the region in providing excellence and quality in third party logistics services. Jim holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Washington State University.
